INCOMING COLLEGE FRESHMEN

Requirements for Enrollment

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

International students who wish to apply for admission into any undergraduate or graduate degree programs are required to take and pass the respective entrance examination and comply with the specific requirements of Philippine laws concerning the entry and stay of international students.

The initial requirements for the processing of the application by international students include:

  • Scholastic records duly authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Post located in the student’s country of origin or legal residence:
  • Transcript of Records
  • Certificate of Graduation/Diploma
  • Birth Certificate
  • Two copies of the passport bio page:
  • Foreign passport
  • Both passports for dual citizens (PH and other nationality)
  • Foreign passport and Recognition Certificate for RFC holders
  • Philippine passport for applicants with one foreign parent
  • Five copies of the signed student's personal history statement (PHS) with two 2X2 photos and left and right thumbprints (International Student Information Card)
  • Notarized affidavit of support, including bank statements or notarized notice of grant for institutional scholars
  • Letter of Intent

All other legal and visa requirements may be secured subsequently and as needed with the assistance of the University. These are:

  • Joint letter request addressed to the Commissioner from the authorized representative of the petitioning school and applicant, using the school letterhead with dry seal
  • Duly accomplished CGAF for Student Visa and Special Study Permit
  • Photocopy of passport pages bearing the bio-page, latest admission with valid authorized stay and original drug test result, medical clearance certificate from a level 3 hospital
  • Notice of Acceptance of the applicant bearing a clear impression of the school’s official dry seal
  • Endorsement addressed to the Commissioner from the school for the conversion of the applicant’s status, signed by the School Registrar
  • Certificate of Eligibility for Admission from Commission on Higher Education (CHED), in case of Medicine/Dentistry
  • CHED Endorsement for transfer and shifting of course, if applicable
  • National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance, if application is filed six (6) months or more from the date of first arrival in the Philippines
  • Photocopy of BI school accreditation ID of the registrar or school representative
  • BI Clearance Certificate

Additional Requirement for Non-Native English-Speaking International Students

Non-native English speaking international students must satisfy any of the following language requirements:

  • Achieve a score of 605 points in TOEIC or 5.5 band score in IELTS
  • Take and complete either of the following English Language Course for International Students and Non-English Speaking Foreigners
  • 160 hours ELC (group class)
  • 80 hours ELC (one-one-one)

For students who have completed one full year of study in the country, the English proficiency requirements may be waived depending on the results of the oral interview with the Office of International Affairs.

National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance Certificate may be required if application is filed six (6) months or more from the date of first arrival in the Philippines.

3. Student applicant will be endorsed to the concerned school (depending on the program) for enrollment.

4. Student, with the assistance of OIA, will apply for VISA conversion from 9A to 9F at the BI office.

5. Student will personally appear to the BI for data collection, evaluation/assessment, biometrics/data collection, visa implementation, and passport stamping.

6. BI will notify the student, through the university, the release of ACR I-Card.

7. Application for VISA extension will be facilitated after ONE year, with the assistance of OIA. Foreign student must be currently enrolled or currently taking the written comprehensive examination (graduate school).
